Salvia spathacea - Hummingbird Sage

Evergreen perennial, 1 ft tall to 4 ft wide, with flower spikes rising to 2 ft. Resinous green leaves, fragrance reminiscent of pineapple sage. Dark pink to reddish flowers in spring and summer. Attracts hummingbirds. Spreads by rhizome. Part sun to part shade. Drought tolerant, but appreciates some supplemental water. Tolerates clay and serpentine soils. Hardy to 10º F.
